The City of Vanceburg, "The Friendly Little River City", is the county seat of
Lewis County, located on the Ohio River in far northeastern, Kentucky.
Background
Vanceburg was founded in 1797 because of the many water ways - the Ohio River and Salt Lick Creek. We
also had a large deposit of salt for preserving foods.
Accomplishments/Awards
Vanceburg is a certified "Rennaissance on Main" community and has been re-certified for 2010
Vanceburg's City Council enacted a Zoning Ordiance 970.00 within its city limits on August 18, 2009
